Lieberman to lead filibuster of public option PDF Print E-mail

It's hard to for Libertarians to agree with Joe Lieberman often. He's a man of principle, but his support of Democratic large-government social policies and Republican pro-war Middle East policies has put him at odds with Libertarian thought. However, it's hard to disagree with his assessment of a government option in healthcare. Lieberman says that he will filibuster any healthcare plan with a public option because it would lead to a large government entitlement program that would increase the national debt. A U.S. official resigned over the Afghan war last month, saying "I have lost understanding of and confidence in the strategic purposes of the United States' presence in Afghanistan" in a 4-page resignation letter. This resignation is a reason for both applause and concern by Libertarians.

Small towns may be answer for success PDF Print E-mail

Winning elections has never been an easy thing for Libertarians because of the massive party machine of the Republicans and Democrats, and terrible state ballot access laws. But the answer may be to start small. Small towns around Cumberland County are experiencing the economic downturn much worse than Fayetteville. And for anyone that's been following the news, our small town governments are pretty bad (look at Spring Lake getting their police force disolved and look at this article about Linden's Mayor).

Libertarians get a boost from the Observer PDF Print E-mail

The Fayetteville Observer wrote an editorial today about the state's ballot access laws. The editorial gives a spot-on analysis of the problems with the current ballot access system and essentially defends the right of Libertarians and other smaller parties to have easier access to the ballot. Please read the Observer editorial and give them positive feedback for covering this article.
